The other day I received a really lovely call from the local Lions Club chapter asking if I could help financially or otherwise with the upcoming World Festival of Magic...one of their bigger fundraising events to help children in need and to support the work done for children at some local hospitals.

One of the ways I committed to helping was to promote the Lion's activities via this blog.

Here's the link to the local (Sydney) website that could also give you information to help you find out how to help in your area.

Is telephone coaching as effective as in-person coaching? (18-Aug-2010)

Coaching and Workplace Violence (11-Aug-2010)

Here's a great article from Coaching Commons on coaching and workplace violence.  This wasn't initially an area I would have immediately considered coaching to be an option, but my experience the past couple of years has absolutely proven that coaching CAN have a positive impact on this and other urgent workplace/social behavioural situations, particularly when used as part of a holistic approach which includes other appropriate helping professionals working as a team.

You can read the article here....

Meet Alex Papanikolaou (10-Aug-2010)

Here's a great story of Alex Papanikolaou, a coach who has travelled around the world in his motorised wheelchair.  He has some great messages to inspire us!

Tony Robbins' Breakthrough show cancelled (9-Aug-2010)

Tony Robbins' new show, "Breakthrough" was cancelled after only a couple of episodes went to air.  Apparently, Americans didn't really want to see people breakthrough.  They (and other audiences around the world) seem to be more interested in seeing people fail than succeed.  I just don't get it.

In fact, I've had this conversation with friends who work in the media including television show producers and they frequently tell me that audiences don't want the happy ending.  They want ...

Spring to Mind - One of the most enjoyable coaching books I've read (7-Aug-2010)

A coaching colleague of mine from the UK, Zoe Copley, wrote a book earlier this year Spring to Mind and sent me a copy to read.

This has been one of the most enjoyable coaching books I've read!

It's mostly a little novel compiled of slightly fictionalised (but mostly true-ish) letters Zoe wrote to her mum and others as she embarked on the road to becoming a coach.  There are also a number of useful coaching tools and resources in the back of it.

Some thoughts on IMPACT (6-Aug-2010)

I was at a High Ideals event in Sydney a few weeks ago and one of our memebers, Kylie Mills-Coleman, gave a presentation on "Impact" which is one of the three core values of High Ideals (Integrity - Positivity - Impact).

I really enjoyed the structure of her presentation, as did the rest of our record-breaking number of guests at our functions, and I made a promise on the night that I would find a suitable way of sharing her insights with the readers of The Best Little Life Coaching Blog in the World...

An example coaching conversation about emotions (6-Aug-2010)

The latest Coaching Commons update shared this article where a fictionalised coaching conversation occurs about hiding emotions.

It's interesting and provides some good examples.

It also opens up a lot of questions about other methods, options, approaches etc that could also apply in the same situation.

If you were part of this conversation, what would you say/ask?

Read the article here.
